Service Project – Community Clean-up
The Solano Sunset Rotary Club helps keep our community safe and welcoming by
cleaning up local areas and maintaining the dog-walking sidewalk for the Humane
Society. Members regularly remove glass, debris, foxtails, and weeds to ensure a
safer, more pleasant walk for the dogs.
Service Project – Food Deliveries
Several times per year for certain holidays Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day,
Independence Day, Thanksgiving, etc. Club members package groceries at Vallejo
Grocery Outlet, each package with food for 4 or more, and deliver the food to
approximately 50 families. The names of families in need are provided by other
local non-profits who also work to assist those in need, e.g. Fighting Back, Florence
Douglas Center, etc.
Service Project – Inside Picnic - Florence Douglas Center (FDC)
FDC creates a warm and welcoming environment for Seniors to engage in a
variety of activities and socialize with their peers. Annually, the Club hosts a FDC
fundraiser by providing and serving an inside picnic/BBQ meal for approximately
100+ people, the proceeds going to FDC.
Service Project – Sail Project
Ongoing – to enhance the educational kiosk near the Sail of the decommissioned
nuclear submarine USS Mariano G. Vallejo on Mare Island. Mare Island Historic
Park Foundation: MIHPF purchased and maintains the Sail. They will help provide
historical content for the videos which will be created by the Solano Sunset Rotary
Club and added to the kiosk, making the important history available to the
community and future generations.
